Because of the badge it wears, the Focus will never have as strong an image as Volkswagen's Golf, but it has earned respect with good driving characteristics, quality and reliability, too. It's a much more appealing prospect than the old Escort was, but even so, feedback from our readers suggests that there are quite a few private buyers who aren't that enthused about the prospect of driving a Ford.
