| RUNNING COSTS RATING: |
 |
Should be very good. The old Focus gained a reputation for reliability, not always a Ford trait, and there's no reason to think that this model will be any different. Because so many Focuses are bought by fleets, servicing costs sit high on the priority list; so it should be affordable to repair, while parts will be keenly priced and readily available. Insurance costs are competitive, and fuel consumption figures are around 43mpg for the 1.6-litre petrols with manual gearboxes, and 40mpg for the 2.0-litre petrol, though we'd be a bit surprised if you matched these in real-world driving. Consumption for the diesels is quoted at a respectable 59mpg for the 1.6 diesel, and 51mpg for the 2.0-litre diesel. Again, owners probably won't match the official figures during normal driving.
