It ought to be four stars, but Fiat just doesn't have enough of a reputation in this market yet - a Fiat has yet to compete with the minor cachet of a Renault, let alone a VW. The Stilo does not photograph well, either. But in the steel, the three-door is almost glamorous, and the five-door appealing for its no-nonsense functionality.
