| Road Test: Daewoo Matiz (2000-) |

| SAFETY AND SECURITY RATING: |
 |
The Matiz scores a fairly average three stars (out of five) in Euro NCAP crash tests, which isn't too bad given the design's age and the car's diminutive size. Both SE and SE+ versions get twin front airbags; side airbags aren't available. Anti-lock brakes are not available on SE models and are an option on SE+. The ABS price includes air-conditioning, but the latter is available on its own. Weekly car magazine Autocar managed to roll a Matiz when turning in reverse a few years ago, but this feat has not been repeated by owners. Daewoo refused to fit a reverse-speed limiter claiming the manoeuvre in question was in fact a stunt-driver-like J-Turn, so we'd advise against trying one of those! Security is mostly provided by the fact that the Matiz isn't very nickable. SE+ models get central locking though, while an alarm is an option on both models.
