Depends which one you buy. Truth be told, the three-cylinder model doesn't offer much oomph. Its throbby, 796cc engine generates just 51bhp, so it's one of the least powerful cars on the market and is a bit out of its depth at motorway speeds. However, it's not bad around town, with a light gearshift making it easy to keep the engine on the boil. Claimed figures are 17.6 seconds for the 0-60mph dash (we use the word loosely), and a top speed of 89mph, though it would probably take over a minute to get to its maximum. The four-cylinder 1.0-litre is preferable. It has 12bhp more than the 800cc unit but the few extra horses make themselves evident. It has noticeably more urge around town and more easily maintains motorway cruising speeds. Its limit rises by 5mph to 94mph while the 0-60mph time is chopped to 12.9 seconds - a useful improvement.
