The Xsara has been relatively trouble-free so far, apart from the odd electrical fault, and durability seems good as long as it is looked after properly. Citroen does not score above average in reliability surveys, but the Xsara is well built and should last well - the previous model, and the ZX before it, has a good reputation. It does, however, have a much more complex 'multiplex' wiring system and more electronically-controlled components, and there have been some glitches with these.
