The appearance of a Xsara in the World Rally Championships hasn't done a lot for the standard Xsara's slightly dowdy image; more damaging, Citroen's pile-'em-high-and-sell-'em-cheap attitude to new car sales doesn't make it look in any way exclusive or prestigious. If the Ford Focus is the car equivalent of Marks & Spencers (accessible yet smart and respectable), then the Xsara is probably, er, WalMart. The slightly odd, shrunken-C5 looks don't help, either - they suit the larger C5 better.
