    Citroen Saxo VTS
    by John Irvine

I have owned a Saxo VTS (September '98 model) for 18 months now, and although this is about when I would usually change my car, I will be keeping this one for a long time to come as it's the most fun I've ever had in a car. The handling is magic and, coupled with an engine that you have no trouble thrashing, makes the VTS the car of my dreams. The only problem I have with it is the lack of an air-recirculation button, so if you are stuck in traffic you can't stop fumes from polluting your lungs. I was considering having air-conditioning installed to get over this problem, but the cost is astronomical.

I have to say that if you are after real, every-day fun in a car, this is the one -as long as you're not too tall. I've driven many cars, including a Porsche Boxster around Millbrook testing ground in Bedfordshire, and none has come close to the sheer fun factor of driving a VTS.

I was going to look for a Lotus Elise or Subaru Impreza Turbo to replace it with but, since test-driving them, have decided to stick with the VTS. I hope the arrival of my first child next year doesn't force me into selling it on interior/four-door grounds.
