| DRIVING RATING: |
 |
A quick, easy gearchange and simple switchgear make for a painless drive, the more so with power steering (standard on most versions). Even without power steering, though, the Saxo is easy to park. However, big people may find the footwell obstructively cramped, the steering wheel oddly-positioned, and headroom lacking. Fluid, agile and easy to point into a bend. More than in all rivals apart from its 106 cousin, you can alter your cornering line with the accelerator as well as with the steering - good fun for the keen driver, and very easy to control. A dying breed too - few more modern cars are as much fun.
