    INTRODUCTION

Citroen's C2 is the replacement for the Saxo at the bottom end of the French car manufacturer's range. Based on the same platform as the slightly larger C3 and C3 Pluriel, the C2 is only available as a three-door model because the C3 covers five-door territory.

The C2 offers a lot of interior room in the front and a decent driving position, as well as - on some models - separate rear seats which fold, recline, slide and come-out, but never really give a huge amount of rear volume.

Engines are 1.1, 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrol, and 1.4-litre HDI turbodiesel units, and prices are keen against its supermini and city-car opposition, even at official 'list' levels - and once you take into account Citroen's policy of perpetual special offers, cashback, free insurance, low-rate finance and other incentives, it gets even better value.
