    RUNNING COSTS RATING:

On most models, running costs are surprisingly affordable. The big problem is affording a new one in the first place - you can now spend upwards of £40,000 on one. But, insurance is reasonable (you can get Sevens on specialist policies costing a couple of hundred pounds a year), while servicing isn't overly expensive thanks to a number of honest specialists and most Sevens' simple mechanicals. Best of all, though, most Caterhams depreciate very slowly. The small engine and light-weight means that fuel economy's reasonable, too.
