    SAFETY AND SECURITY RATING:

Although EuroNCAP crash test results aren't available for the latest 5, we'd be surprised if it didn't achieve the full rating; its predecessor scored 4. Although full UK specifications haven't yet been set, expect a full barrage of airbags, while ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution and switchable stability control are standard. You have to be fairly methodical if you want to unleash the car's full potential, too: press the power button, press the steering wheel's MDrive button, select the gearbox mode, stiffen the dampers... The rear differential is electronically controlled, too, to prevent the rear-wheels locking if you shift down through the gears abruptly in low-grip conditions, where engine braking might otherwise cause a brief lock-up. Because it's eminently nickable, expect a standard and quite advanced alarm system.
