    INTRODUCTION

If you want a quick take on just how rapid the latest BMW M5 is, here are a couple of things you should know. First, its 5.0-litre V10 revs to 8,250rpm. Second, it has an electronic speed limiter set at 280kph, (that's 174mph), up to which point it's still accelerating convincingly. Unrestricted, BMW claims that an M5 would reach 205mph. And we believe it.

This fourth-generation executive M-car from BMW lifts it into supercar territory. It has an amazing engine and the sort of performance that would give Ferrari owners a real fright. Meantime, it still does the business as a posh executive saloon. And unlike the aforementioned Ferraris, you'd be able to pull-up at a meeting without making your client feel like he's being fleeced.
