Audi A8
by Terry Dainty 02.05.03
I bought a used three year old 4.2 Quattro model recently with just 70,000 miles on the clock and a full Audi service history. I can honestly say it was the biggest mistake I ever made. In the six week period I've had the car: the sat nav system has totally failed. The driver's seat has failed and can't be adjusted. The fuel gauge is inaccurate to a quarter-tank. The computer has started to ask for a service despite it just having had one. An ABS sensor has failed and requires replacing so the traction control keeps turning off as well. The in-car telephone mounting has broken. A wheel bearing is going, or the pads are binding on the discs. Coolant is leaking from the radiator, which now needs replacing. Exterior trim is sproinging off all over the place. Luckily, all is being fixed by the dealer under warranty, but I now hate Audis and have come to the conclusion that they're just badly screwed together Volkswagens made by numpties. I've owned BMs and Mercs in the past and never had a problem with any of them, in fact, come to think of it I've had Alfas and even a Montego Turbo that never came close to causing me as much grief.
