It would be hard to imagine what Aston Martin could have done to make the Vantage more coveted than it already is. Just putting the Aston wings on the bonnet of any car tends to do wonders for its street cred. But when you add the fact that the Vantage is arguably even better looking than the DB9 and, critically, within the price range of a sector of the car-buying public who have hitherto presumed that owning a new Aston would always be beyond them, it’s clear that the Vantage has a strong claim to being the most desirable car currently on sale.
It will also remain an exclusive proposition, for while around 2500 will be built each year – a massive number by Aston standards, that still means that just one will be produced for every ten Porsche 911s that find their way onto the road. Expect, therefore, for waiting lists to remain long and residuals to stay sky high for years to come.
