    SAFETY AND SECURITY RATING:

Two-stage side 'bagsAston is confident of a four-star rating for the DB9 in the EuroNCAP crash tests. The usual complement of airbags - two front, two side - is present here in the DB9, the front ones having a two-stage operation according to the impact severity. Also helping its crashworthiness is the three-stage collapse of the front chassis rails, the first two sections being relatively easy to replace. If the impact is big enough to crumple the structure beyond the third part of the rail, behind the front wheels, then it was hardly going to be survivable anyway. The structure itself is extremely rigid.

Standard ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, emergency brake assist and a pleasingly non-interventionist stability and traction control system help you avoid the accident in the first place. The ESP, the first-ever on an Aston, proved very effective on the test route's frosty roads. Security systems are as you would expect on a high-end car.
