BreathtakingWell, you'd want one, wouldn't you? Quite apart from any James Bond connotations, the DB9 is a terrific visual mix of crisp modernity and Aston Martin's usual styling features. And it's built well enough to be credible, which wasn't always the case with its forbears. It's true that the styling - conceived by Ian Callum, with the project brought to fruition by Henrik Fisker - is close to that of the Vanquish and the forthcoming, smaller V8 Vantage model which will take on Porsche's 911, but the Aston identity is very strong. Neat, high-quality, bespoke-feeling details abound, too, such as the ground-glass ashtray and the way the bright side-window surrounds are welded together and machined from several pieces to gain the right tapering style. And then there's the sound, a heady V12 howl. Marvellous, especially from the outside. This car does exactly what it looks as if it should do.
