Alfa 2.0 GTV Lusso
by Lesley Barker 28.07.03
I bought one of these cars three years ago. It was always a dream of mine and I have to say that I haven't been disappointed. Beautifully designed, passionate and with fabulous Italian styling they are just fantastic to drive. So much so, I have done nearly 50,000 miles in three years. The downside, and there always is one, is that they are extremely expensive once in the garage. Exhausts and tyres are expensive. You need a very heavy duty battery. As they get older annoying things start to break, the petrol opening switch got stuck and now the door release is rattling. But you have to take the rough with the smooth and as long as she's got plenty of oil, a good tank full of Optimax then all the negatives suddenly seem to disappear! The 2.0 litre is a dream on long drives, it's a true touring car. Excellent on hills with sharp corners (particularly Tuscan hills), the car is in a league of its own. It's a little slow from 0-60 but hey, who cares? Truly a cuore sportive.
