The idea merits five stars but the artistic interpretation drops a point. The GT looks powerful and planted on the road, and seen in the open air it comes across as wedgier and more muscle-bound than it seemed in the close quarters of its Geneva Show debut as a design prototype, but somehow there's an opportunity missed. It deserves a bit more flair and a bespoke dashboard - but then the same could be said of its BMW rival. The GT does have a warm personality, though, and the benefit of being the thinking person's choice rather than the default one. Specify leather seats and the stitched-leather dashboard option, and you could almost be in a mini-Ferrari or Maserati.
