Citroen C5
Citroen will be introducing two new 'greener' engines for the C5 range along with a number of other changes to the model range.
The C5 range will now include a new BMW co-developed 1.6i 16-valve 155bhp petrol engine, replacing the outgoing 2.0i 143bhp unit. This Euro V engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and is available in the VTR+ NAV saloon specification.
The new engine delivers 177lb-ft of torque at 1,400rpm and an 8% increase in power, combined with an 18.5% increase in combined-cycle fuel economy and a 16% reduction in CO2 emissions - down from 198g/km to 167g/km. As a result VED road tax is reduced from £215 to £175.
There's also a new 2.0HDi 160bhp diesel that replaces the 2.0HDi140bhp and the 2.2HDi 173bhp engines. This comes with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox and is available on both Saloon and Tourer models, in VTR+ NAV and Exclusive trims.
The new 2.0-litre delivers 251lb-ft of torque at 2,000rpm and - in comparison to the outgoing 140hp manual C5 Saloon - a 14% increase in power, a 3% increase in fuel economy (combined cycle) and reduced CO2 emissions - down 4% from 153g/km to 147g/km. The lower emissions means VED is reduced from £150 to £125 (includes the Tourer manual).
For the automatic versions, CO2 emissions are 179g/km on both the Saloon and Tourer - reduced from 189g/km and 191g/km respectively. In both cases VED is reduced by £40, from £215 to £175.
Citroen has also renamed the SX trim level as the VTR although specification remains unchanged. Also, a new Bluetooth system with USB box will come as standard equipment on Exclusive models.
