Compact Crossover
Mitsubishi has revealed a totally new SUV due to be launched in February.
The Compact Crossover is derived from the 2007 Concept-cX show car and it the latest development of Mitsubishi's mid-size global platform.
It is essentially a small SUV to rivals models such as the Ford Kuga or even the BMW X1. It will be marketed as a more 'environmentally friendly' off-roader.
Mitsubishi describes this new model, like the MiEV city car, as a 'game changer' and says it shifts the brand further away from its SUV-heavy focus. As such there's every chance the Compact Crossover will feature CO2-busting technologies such as stop/start and regenerative braking.
It's due to go on sale in Japan in February but is expected to come to European markets later in the year. The European premiere is scheduled for the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.
