The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has launched a new initiative to try and cut the number of children killed in driveways.

In 2007 three children aged one- to two-years old were killed after being stuck by vehicles on driveways and in 2008 at least eight children up to the age of seven died in similar collisions on driveways.

The charity is conducting a survey among parents and guardians to gather more information on incidents involving children on driveways.

The survey, at www.rospa.com/childsafety/questionnaire.htm , is being conducted to help RoSPA understand how these accidents happen and the information gathered will be used to help prevent similar incidents occurring in the future.
