Safety: Extra cash for street lighting

The Department for Transport has pledged an extra £440m to help local authorities improve street lighting.

Transport minister Sadiq Khan who announced the funding boost said: 'Good quality street lighting improves road safety and reduces crime and the fear of crime.'

DfT hope improved lighting will also boost the number of cyclists.
