Lexus is to launch a five-door compact hatchback set to rival the BMW 1-Series and Audi A3.
The new car will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and is due to go on sale in the UK by autumn 2010.
A name for the car has not yet been confirmed but it'll be a petrol-electric hybrid-only model using the same 2.4-litre 187bhp four-cylinder engine as the US-market-only HS 250h.
