Tata is to bring the Nano to Europe - but the world's cheapest car will not be quite so cheap when it gets here.
The Indian-built Nano is now likely to sell from around €5000 (£4,400) rather than the £2,500 originally rumoured, due to modifications needed for it to meet European safety and emissions standards.
Tata is said to be considering importing it to Europe in 'kit' form, with final assembly for local markets, to cut import costs and get around some of the legislative requirements for importing series-production vehicles.
The Nano goes on sale in India this summer.
