Citroen is celebrating its 90th birthday and has announced plans to reinvent itself using the legendary DS name-badge.
The DS will not be a latter-day successor to its beautiful large family car of the 1950s and '60s. Instead, it will offer special edition DS models in the existing range.
There will be three models, DS3 (based on the new-generation C3), DS4 (C4) and DS5 (C5), launched from next year.
Citroen's DS Inside concept, to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, looks, from the pictures released so far, to be the DS3, and thus also hints at a new C3 supermini much-influenced by the Mini and other 'premium-class' small cars.
Citroen's makeover plan also includes a new logo, new technologically advanced models and concepts (e.g the Hypnos, C-Cactus, an all-new advertising campaign, improved websites and dealerships and a new used vehicle programme.
Citroen is also promising a varied new product line-up, with six new models coming in Europe over the next three years.
