Lagonda name is being revived
Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz are continuing to discuss working together on a new-generation Lagonda, according to press reports.
As rumoured for a while, Aston Martin is hoping to use technology from Mercedes to help it develop the saloon, which will take the revived Lagonda brand-name.

Such a tie-up will enable both companies to cut costs on developing these cars, a necessary measure given the low production numbers and sales volumes.
It could share its underpinnings with the next-generation Maybach models that are due in 2012. These will be based on a longer version of the next-generation S-Class underpinnings, but with an all-new advanced suspension system which scans the road surface ahead and adjusts the springs and dampers accordingly.
Powertrains will include a petrol-electric hybrid system developed from that in the Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid, and a new development of the 6.0 V12 twin-turbo.
