Chevrolet GPiX
General Motors is showing the Chevrolet GPiX, the first of a new family of compact cars, in Brazil.
The GPiX, on display at the Sao Paulo Motor Show, is a small, high-riding two-door crossover-coupe, sitting on 17" wheels. It rides on GM's so-called 'Viva' platform - related to that of the European-market Corsa - which will form the basis of a series of low-cost models.
It has been developed with the South American market in mind, but closely-related models are reported to be under consideration for North America, Europe and other regions.
GM has suggested that it is preparing a Corsa-based mini-SUV - in the vein of the Fiat Sedici, Suzuki SX4 and suchlike - for European sale as a Vauxhall and Opel. Though it will not be mechanically identical to this Brazilian Chevy, there could well be some similarities.
