BMW has scotched rumours that it is planning to build an X4 - a smaller version of the X6.
Industry magazine Automotive News claimed BMW is planning a new model that will have design elements from the larger X6 using 3-Series underpinnings.
The reports follow the unveiling of the forthcoming X1 - a compact sporty 4x4 - at the Paris Motor Show this month.
A BMW spokesman told 4Car: 'It doesn't exist and an X4 it is definitely not in our long-term plans.'
However he confirmed that plans for a city car, the PAS - a model sitting between the 5- and 6-Series - and the CS (a luxury four-door coupe) will come to market, probably in the next five to six years.
