Fiat Panda Eco
Fiat is offering a low-emissions version of its Panda city car called Eco.
This new version emits just 119g/km of carbon dioxide, thanks to its low rolling-resistance tyres and low-viscosity engine oil, and returns 56.5mpg.
It's still able to do 93mph, though 0-60mph acceleration takes 14 seconds for Active-specification versions and 15 seconds for the Dynamic models.
The Panda Active Eco features a 1.1-litre petrol engine (54bhp), and the Dynamic Eco a 60bhp 1.2. The Active comes with twin front airbags, electric front windows and power steering, and costs from £7,105, and the Dynamic adds remote central locking, colour-coded bumpers and a CD/MP3 player, and costs from £7,705.
These cars are £100 more than their non-Eco equivalents, but will cost £85-a-year less in annual road tax as they fit into the lower tax band B.
