Frank Stephenson
Frank Stephenson, who recently resigned as head of Alfa Romeo's Centro Stile design studio, is to head up a new design team at McLaren.
Stephenson developed cars including the pretty Alfa Romeo Mito supermini and the Fiat 500 while at the Fiat Group, as well as working on the Maserati MC12, Ferrari F430, Maserati Quattroporte and Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.
Prior to joining Fiat, he worked for BMW for 11 years, where he led the team responsible for the Mini. Stephenson studied at the Art Centre College of Design, Pasadena.
McLaren, which is soon to end its partnership with Mercedes-Benz to build the SLR, is reported to be working on a successor to its legendary F1 supercar.
This mid-engined 'P11' coupe is said to be scheduled for production in spring 2010, with a 'P12' convertible to follow in 2011, and then an ultra-high performance 'P13' to come 2013.
