Motor Show: London 2008: 76.3mpg Ford Fiesta Econetic unwrapped

23 Jul 08 10:58

Ford can now claim to have the most fuel-efficient five-seater car in the UK following the unveiling of its 76.3mpg Fiesta Econetic at the British Motor Show.

It was part the worldwide launch of the Fiesta range but Ford is hoping it can capitalise on the Econetic's green credentials: its supreme fuel economy is matched by its low emissions. It emits only 98g/km of carbon dioxide and that puts it in the zero-cost road tax band.

Aerodynamic body styling, lowered suspension, low resistance tyres and low friction oil all help the Ford Fiesta Econetic achieve its ultra low CO2 emissions.

Additionally a green shift indicator in the instrument cluster highlights the optimal point to change gear to maximise fuel economy.

The Fiesta Econetic follows its siblings, the Focus and Mondeo Econetics, and it is due to go on sale in the UK at the end of the year.

Prices start at £11,800 for the three-door and rise to £12,445 for the five-door version.
