Chevrolet is to launch its new small family-sized car at the Paris Motor Show. It's to be called Cruze, and it will replace the Lacetti.
The first of the so-called Delta platform cars from General Motors, the Cruze is a four-door saloon around the size of the Volkswagen Jetta.
It arrives in right-hand-drive form in the UK in early 2009, with five-door hatchback models following later next year.
Further down the line, there will be a Scenic-sized MPV model (to replace the Tacuma) and a compact SUV. Chevrolet is also considering a coupe-cabriolet, though an estate is unlikely.
The Cruze will be sold in regions including North America (where it will replace the Cobalt) and Central and Eastern Europe. The Delta platform will also underpin models including the next-generation Vauxhall/Opel Astra, Saab 9-3 and electric Chevy Volt.
