Jaguar and Land Rover will be launching many more models over the next five years under new owner Tata.
Tata's chairman, Ratan Tata, said he has 'great respect' for the two brands and revealed a five-year plan to build new Jaguars and Land Rovers in the UK following the £1.2 billion deal to take over the two British brands.
One project that is on the table is the XE - a £40,000 two seat sports car which is currently in the design and planning stages. The idea is to launch the new car in 2012 but it's not clear whether it will be based on the XF or the XK platform.
Land Rover is working on its LRX sports 4x4, which was first unveiled late last year. It will be built at the Land Rover's Halewood plant and the company is planning to double its production capacity at that facility by 2012.
Tata/Land Rover is rumoured to have a deal in place to supply the Indian army with thousands of new Defenders for military, but these could well be built at a facility in Delhi to meet the huge demand.
