Volkswagen Tiguan
Volkswagen has revealed its mini-Touareg 4x4, the Tiguan, which will make its formal debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The tough-looking little Tig - 4.4m long, 1.8m wide and 1.6m tall - will come with the 1.4 TSI (150bhp) and 2.0 TDI (140bhp) engines at first, though a 170bhp diesel and two more petrol engines (both also direct-injection, turbocharged TSI units, giving 170bhp and 200bhp) will be offered later in 2008.
All models have 4Motion automatic torque-on-demand four-wheel-drive, and high ground clearance; standard versions give an 18-degree approach angle, but buyers wanting more serious off-road ability can opt for a package with a radiator protection grille, extra underbody protection, hill descent control and a compass, plus a 28-degree approach angle to tackle steeper gradients and larger obstructions.
UK sales swill start in February 2008, with S, SE and Sport specifications to choose from. Prices will start from around the £19,000 mark.
