Jeep Patriot
The Jeep Patriot makes its European debut this week alongside the Compass. The retro-look Patriot is the new entry-level Jeep model, a four-wheel-drive hatchback/SUV crossover based on Dodge Caliber/Chrysler Sebring underpinnings.
The Patriot will be offered in the UK with a choice of a Volkswagen-sourced 138bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine or a 2.4-litre 168bhp Mitsubishi four-cylinder petrol unit; the diesel comes with a six-speed manual gearbox and the petrol with five-speed manual or CVT. It has an active four-wheel drive system, running in front-wheel drive in normal conditions but with power sent to the rear axle when conditions get slippery.
Standard kit includes side curtain airbags and stability control, and there will be two trim levels, Sport and Limited. Deliveries start in July; UK pricing will be confirmed nearer the time, but it'll come in below the £17,990 starting point for the Compass Limited.
The Compass comes with a more extensive, comfort-orientated specification but the same choice of engines/transmissions; this model goes on sale in May.
