Renault Scene Conquest
Renault is launching a Scenic SUV-lookalike in Geneva. The Scenic Conquest has its ground clearance raised by 20mm, and is trimmed-up with black graphite bumper protection, a chrome-effect skid plate and new grille and air intakes, plus dark-lensed headlights, side protection strips, black graphite wheel arch inners, door sill guards, chrome/black roof bars, alloy wheels and black graphite rear bumper with chrome-effect skid plate. There will be a choice of 10 paint colours, including a unique shade called Cayenne Orange.
The Conquest's cabin has been brightened up with orange tints and trims: there are orange seatbelts, and orange stitching on the steering wheel and upholstery, as well as special Conquest rubber floor mats.
Engine options are a 135bhp 2.0-litre, 16-valve petrol engine with (35.3mpg) and a 130bhp 1.9 dCi diesel (47.1mpg); both of these engines come with a six-speed manual gearbox. In some countries, a 110bhp 1.6 16v petrol and a 105bhp 1.5 dCi diesel will also be offered, the latter returning 54.3mpg.
Equipment will include modified suspension with longer-travel dampers and smaller anti-roll bars, to cope better with rough terrain, and uniquely tuned stability and traction control; in addition to the standard Dynamique kit, there will be rear parking sensors, alloy wheels and roof bars. Optional accessories will include bike racks, storage units, and door and sill guards. Sales start in June 2007; UK pricing and availability will be announced nearer to that date.
