This could be the sportiest crossover on the market when it goes on sale in Europe in April 2007, says our road-tester. Mazda's CX-7 is in Paris in European-market spec; it really does combine a bit of coupe character with SUV usefulness, with its rakish roofline and roomy five-seat interior. It's fitted with the 260bhp direct-injection, turbocharged petrol engine as in the Mazda6 MPS, but less powerful, and diesel, units will follow.
Mazda is also showing its Mazda3 MPS hot hatch - with 250bhp, it's a little bit faster than the closely-related Ford Focus ST - and the folding hard-top MX-5 Roadster-Coupe.
