Volkswagen Crossgolf
Volkswagen's Tiguan compact SUV is still some way off production, but in the meantime, there's this: the CrossGolf.
A version of the swollen-up Golf Plus with raised suspension and appropriate styling accessories - roof rails, chunkier bumpers, side body cladding, larger 17" wheels - it's similar in concept to the CrossPolo (or Polo Dune, as it's known in the UK).
The CrossGolf will be offered with the 1.4-litre TSI twincharger engine (140bhp), an entry-level conventional 1.6 (102bhp) and the 1.9 TDI (105bhp) and 2.0 TDI (140bhp) diesels when it goes on sale in mainland Europe in January. Equipment will include climate control and stability control - but not four-wheel-drive, as it's purely an urban compact family car for those who don't want to be seen in an MPV.
