Daihatsu Terios
Daihatsu is to launch its new-generation Terios compact SUV at the Geneva Motor Show.
Larger and roomier than before, it will keep its small, economical engine in the shape of a 1.5-litre unit. The new Terios is the European version of the Be-Go already on sale in Japan and its sister model, the Toyota Rush.
Toyota will be revealing a concept called Urban Cruiser in Geneva, which signals its own intentions of offering an entry-level SUV over here.
Daihatsu says that the Terios has 'excellent handling', thanks to a tight turning circle, and a 'comfortable ride'; it will have full-time four-wheel drive with a mechanical centre-locking differential.
Daihatsu will also unveil a new mini-MPV, the D-Compact Wagon. The successor to the Grand Move model once sold over here, the Wagon is said to have a 'unique presence' and 'distinct characteristics', which give 'added pleasure in ownership' and 'a fun time to share with family and friends'. From the pictures seen so far, it does at least look a bit more urban-cool than the deadly-dull Grand Move.
