Audi has unveiled the freshened A4 Cabriolet ahead of its Frankfurt Motor Show debut. The most obvious change is up front, where the new car gains the single-frame grille, which has already found its way onto the rest of the A4 range. Under the skin, the A4 has gained the same chassis revisions that also grace the A4 saloon and Avant estate models. Also, there are three engines which are new to the Cabriolet, including a 163bhp 1.8-litre turbo petrol, a 200bhp 2.0-litre FSI petrol, a 255bhp 3.2 V6 FSI petrol and a 233bhp 3.0-litre turbo-diesel.

The new drop top Audi, which goes on sale from November, has received suspension revisions aimed at striking a better compromise between ride and handling. Also new for the Cabriolet is the option of an 'acoustic' hood, which claims to reduce cabin noise to a level near that of the A4 saloon. It achieves this, says Audi, through the use of new fabrics with a greater density.

Pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date in November.
