Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione
Alfa Romeo is to unveil a concept roadster at the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance in California next week, according to autoblog.it. The 8C Spider is a drop-top version of the stunning 8C Competizione concept seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2003; although prototypes for the roadster are said to have been around for a while, this will be the first public viewing of the car, which is expected to then appear in Frankfurt in September. It is a front-engined, rear-wheel drive two-seater, likely to feature a Ferrari-derived V8; should it go into production, it would figure in the Fiat Group range between the Alfa Brera Spider and the upcoming Maserati 5000GT Spider. Although production plans for the 8C Competizione coupe have not yet been confirmed, Alfa is said to have planned a track-testing programme, and to have developed a near-production-ready interior, which moves it on from the show car stage.
