Hyundai is to offer a rear-wheel drive luxury car in 2007, reports Reuters. A spokesman told the news agency that "we have not decided what brand the luxury model will be, but rear-drive cars like BMW and Toyota's Lexus will be launched around 2007." This could indicate Hyundai's intentions to launch a dedicated luxury car brand, in the way that Toyota developed Lexus, Honda Acura and Nissan Infiniti. Hyundai also confirmed that it is to offer hybrid petrol-electric models in the USA from next year; the first available will be versions of the new Accent and its sister model, the Kia Rio.
