Rolls-Royce has confirmed the production of a Phantom-based convertible, inspired by the 100EX concept car shown in Geneva last spring. The convertible, codenamed RR02 but likely to wear a Corniche badge, will be a two-door four-seater "slightly smaller" than the 100EX, and it will be unveiled in 2007. It will share the Phantom's 6.75-litre V12 engine, and will be assembled at the company's Goodwood facility. A Rolls-Royce spokesman said today: "The success of the Phantom has given us a solid foundation for the future from which we can now take this next important step. Convertible motor cars have always played a central part in the 100-year history of Rolls-Royce and I am delighted that we can take this tradition forward with a cutting-edge 21st century design."LINK
