Saab 9-3 Vector Sport
Saab is revising the 9-3 Sport Saloon for 2005, with upgraded models going on sale from September 1st; prices start from £16,995. Two new 1.9-litre diesel engines are offered, both compliant with the Euro IV emissions regulations and thus exempt from the 3 percent diesel surcharge for company car tax: these Opel/Vauxhall-sourced engines come with 120bhp and 150bhp outputs and standard six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic gearbox will be optional with 1.9 TiD 150bhp models later in the year. These models replace the 2.2 TiD diesel, and have lower carbon dioxide emissions and thus lower tax bandings: 154g/km for the 120bhp model and 159g/km for the 150bhp version. Prices start from £18,995 (9-3 Linear 1.9 TiD 120bhp); 150bhp models are £1000 more.
Saab is introducing two new specification levels to the 9-3 range, which replace the Arc models: Linear Sport and Vector Sport. Linear Sport models are £1000 more than the entry-level Linear versions, but add dual-zone climate control, trip computer and cruise control, front fog lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, upgraded upholstery and parking sensors. Vector Sport versions cost £650 more than their Vector standard equivalents, adding electronic stability control, an upgraded ES2-7 information-entertainment system, different 17-inch alloys and parking sensors.
Further changes to the 9-3 range for 2005 include:
