Production of the Honda CR-V has begun in Wuhan, China, where Honda has established a joint venture with Dongfeng Motor. The Dongfeng factory has received full renovation and upgrades, and will make 30,000 CR-V 4x4s for the Chinese market each year, though it potentially has the capacity to make up to 120,000. It currently employs 850 people. Honda has already started production of engines in partnership with Dongfeng, and a further joint venture between Honda, Dongfeng and the Guangzhou Auto Group will begin operation at the end of this year, making vehicles for export.
