Open wide : The 'suicide' door layout (so-called due to accidents in the days before automatic locking) allows for 90-degree openings down each side, giving excellent ease of access to the rear seats. The central pillar helps maintain body rigidity and the rear doors can also be opened independently from the front doors. In cars such as the Mini Clubman and Mazda RX-8, with no central rear pillar, the rear doors can only be opened after the front.
