Engine from Mitsubishi : Despite the end of Mitsubishi's partnership with Smart to make the Colt and Fourfour superminis - the Colt continues but the slow-selling Forfour has been axed - the Japanese firm will supply its three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine to Smart for the Fortwo. This engine also features in Mitsubishi's tiny i-car, a four-seater developed from the Fortwo which will go on sale in Europe later this year.
