Bigger AMG engine : Sharing more with the E-Class, structurally and mechanically, than before, the new C will be positioned very much as a small sports saloon. Versions on offer will include a 400bhp-plus 5.4 AMG unit, going up against the Audi RS4 and new-generation BMW M3, plus a 3.0-litre diesel, a 270bhp 3.5 V6, 210bhp 2.5 V8 and an entry-level, direct-injection four-cylinder 1.8.
