4 Bentley Arnage (page 4 of 25)
|
The first all-new Bentley for 18 years, when the Arnage broke cover in 1998 it was briefly the fastest saloon car in the world. Its BMW-sourced, Cosworth-tweaked twin-turbo V8 wasn't to the taste of the traditionalists, but it gave the Arnage more oomph than its sister model, the V12-engined Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph. The patriots won out, however, and the old 1959-vintage 6.75-litre V8 returned, albeit hugely modified by Cosworth. Still built in Crewe, the £175,000 Arnage remains absolutely British in its character despite the Volkswagen takeover, and more upmarket than the new, more accessible, Continental trio.
